Every year, people gather in Selma, Alabama to commemorate Bloody Sunday, the crossing of the Pettus Bridge in 1965. People gather at the Brown church, where the original march started, and walk in a huge group to the bridge. We stopped in the middle of the bridge, and prayed and sang. The message I got from today has two parts. One is personal: Everyone will be knocked down to their knees sometime in life. Everyone. Less personal: As individuals, we must be empowered to do and be what we want from the world. It is up to us, as individuals, to make changes this country needs, one day at a time.

Lest we forget....
